We are looking for… a place where we can realize our ideas, projects and dreams… a place with potential for development, where a project could emerge and grow step by step, as a process…

Based on our personal experiences, education and interests, we decided to direct our search in the direction of a “tourism project”. We explored the place and the surroundings for possible objects. We were already in love with Vejer de la Frontera, a small town in Andalusia, so we didn’t have to wander far.

On our many walks by the sea and in the country, with many conversations, it became increasingly clear to us that we wanted to be in nature, out of the city, plant fruit trees and grow vegetables. Creating a place where people who come to us can relax and spend time with us. We would like to offer spaces for retreat and opportunities for communication and encounters. A place where generations can meet and feel comfortable. We intensified our search on the outskirts of Vejer de la Frontera.

We knock on doors, ask people on the street and in the bars, so soon everyone will know we’re looking. People come to us of their own accord and show us properties that are for sale. We look at a large number of fincas, with and without buildings, and learn to estimate prices and potential. We soon realize that minimum sizes are required to legally build on a plot of land and that we cannot afford a plot of land with a building, even a ruin.

We are trying to clarify the legal situation. It is clear to us from the beginning that sustainable building is only possible for us if it is legal. For us, it includes respect for the country and the people here. We are advised against by all sides, as this would be very difficult. Illegal building is common in Spain, especially by foreigners settling here. Buy a property, build it, pay the fine. A path we don’t go.
